The Berkey Shower Filter utilizes Redox (Reduction-Oxidation) reactions, similar to a catalytic converter, to convert free chlorine into harmless chloride. This process creates new elements through the transfer of electrons between molecules. The filter media changes free-chlorine into a larger chloride element that is too large to be absorbed by the skin or evaporate. This shower filter significantly reduces chlorine by up to 95% and helps to prevent chemical absorption and vapor inhalation. Additionally, it reduces lime, scale, mold, and fungi in showers, making it an excellent choice for a clean and refreshing shower experience. Each filter typically lasts for approximately one year or 20,000 gallons before needing replacement, and a back flush attachment is included to prevent premature clogging. Note that a shut-off valve should not be used with this filter.
